Pub Skittles

Writer: JEREMY BARNESJEREMY BARNES

9 Pins (Skittles) are arranged on a raised platform. The player will stand on either side of the board. Stand so that when facing the board, the pole is on the same side as your dominant hand.

How to play: Toss a coin to see who goes first.

The ball is swung around behind the pole, the objective being to knock over the skittles as it returns to the player.

The head pin must be knocked down before scoring can begin. The head pin will be the pin furthest away from the player. If other pins are knocked down before the head pin the board will have to be reset to try again.

You will have three attempts total per turn to knock down the pins. If all the pins are knocked over and you still have attempts left the pins will be replaced for the next swing. This means that a player can potentially score 27 in one round.

Players will take alternating turns to see who can score the most pins.

Games are generally played best “2 out of 3” or “3 out of 5” etc.

Tie

In case of a tie each player will swing 3 times as long as any pins are knocked down they count. Once the player swings three times or the player misses the turn ends.

Alternate Scoring

Games may also be played in frames. Scoring each frame by the number of pins knocked over.

...

Players can play to a predetermined number of points. (ie first to 50, or 100)
