This a project I started not knowing if I had the skill to complete and do properly. Someone from our church group asked me to tackle this beast. This box had been in the family for a while and carried some sentimental value. After being inside and out of the box I can't say I was impressed with the workmanship that went into by the original maker. The lid had come delaminated so I started by removing the bad plywood. Then the hard part was stripping all the old stain and polyurethane off of the box. Luckily someone told me about Citristrip. After two or three sessions with the chemical stripper and some sand paper I was finally ready to refinish the box. I must say she cleaned up nicely. I removed a couple decades of patina and came away with a box that looks like it was made yesterday. Well I guess it kind of was.
